Vapaa-ajan kalastaja (Recreational fisherman), the membership magazine of the FFRF, is sent to every fisherman who is a member of the Federation, plus subscribers. It is also distributed at fishing fairs and other public events. Its circulation is approximately 50 000.
Vapaa-ajan kalastaja is a high quality magazine, which contents and opinions are of interest also to non-members of the FFRF. Vapaa-ajan kalastaja shows many different aspects of fishing as a hobby. It provides information on different kinds of fishing, handling fish, fishing areas, new equipment, legislation and official statutes. The magazine continues to keep up the good work of its predecessors and has ready information for fishing and hunting clubs to use.
Vapaa-ajan kalastaja is a full colour tabloid magazine. In year it was published seven times.
Vapaa-ajan kalastaja is published by Vapaa-ajankalastajien Kustannus Oy, which is partly owned by FFRF. The editor is Veli-Matti Saksi (tel. +358 400 339 504, veli-matti.saksi(at)vapaa-ajankalastaja.fi) and the subeditor Jaana Vetikko (tel. +358 50 525 7806, jaana.vetikko(at)vapaa-ajankalastaja.fi) The rest of the staff comprises the executive director of the FFRF, and the fishing advisors working for it. In addition, various experts on different aspects of fishing are also used. Members are welcome to send articles and suggestions. Stina Koivisto, Jouko Keto, Reijo Kallunki, Ilkka Sailo, Markku Nieminen and Ilkka Mäkelä complete the staff.
